To enrich jail’s educational events, and encourage inmates to join recreational activities to enhance their overall well-being, beginning from March, Taichung Prison held preliminary rounds of Gomoku tournament at each educational block and a total of 22 inmates, 16 from the general group and 6 from the senior and disabled group, advanced to the final round on April 25th. A pre-competition game held before the final contest began to demonstrate the rules and also reminded the participants to follow the principle, "no talking during observation."

Apart from instilling a sense of honor in the participants, this activity also timely advocated the spirit of "not becoming arrogant in victory and not devastated by defeat" so to achieve the dual-purpose of education and entertainment.
