Taichung Wanhe Temple and Wanhe Cultural and Educational Foundation hosted the results of the 14th Wanhe Art Exhibition and held an award ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on March 19. The guests at the opening tea party and award ceremony congratulated the winners who were selected for the 14th Wanhe Art Exhibition.
The chairman of Wanhe Temple pointed out in his speech that the 338-year-old Wanhe Temple emphasize the local cultural and artistic education. Owing to the enthusiastic participation of artists and jury members’ fair and objective evaluation, that established the credibility and popularity of Wanhe Art Exhibition. At the same time, He would like to thank Taichung Prison for its support since the second session, and accompany Wanhe Art Exhibition all the way to grow.
There is one artwork from Taichung Prison awarded Merit Award from the 14th Wanhe Art Exhibition. Mr. Wu, the section chief of rehabilitation and education, attended award ceremony and thanked Wanhe Palace for hosting the Wanhe Art Exhibition. He said that the inmates had the opportunity to participate in the competition, and shared the change of mood of such inmate who won the Merit Award studied painting in prison for eight or nine years. This inmate was imprisoned for drug trafficking, and his family did not give up on him making him determined to change himself. He tried very hard to practice his painting skills in Chinese painting. The winning artwork make him more confident, and he will dedicate harder to create more artworks. Since the rehabilitation and education from Taichung Prison, it gives positive benefits to the inmate.
