On March 6th of 2020, without prior notice, the members and investigators of the Control Yuan came to Taichung Prison to get a better understanding about the treatment and implementations the prison carried out for disabled inmates. The supervisors also visited the disabled prisoners at PeiDe Hospital in the jail to show their concerns about their medical treatment and living conditions; and further, they went to see those with chronic illness at the institution’s sanatorium.

The correctional institution provides living assistance and medical care for disabled inmates as a way of maintaining those individuals’ rights, and is under the supervision and inspection performed by the superior authorities to improve the treatments for prisoners with disabilities.
